Description
10 Carmelite Street in Banff is a former Post Office built in 1906, designed in the Edwardian Renaissance style. This asymmetrical, single-storey building features a five-bay layout with a tooled and polished ashlar stone front and a single bay return gable. The wide gabled outer bay includes a pedimented tripartite window supported by granite Roman Doric columns. The entrance is off-center and has an inscribed bracketed and corniced plaque above it. To the left, there are three square-headed windows with keystones and moulded jambs, all fitted with plate glass in timber sash and case windows. The building has a corniced and blocked wallhead and a shallow piended slate roof.
The interior was gutted and altered for office use in 1994.
