Description

The New Market Archway, located on Low Street in Banff, was built in 1831 and designed by architect William Robertson from Elgin. It features a tall round-headed archway made of rusticated ashlar, with polished ashlar on either side of the pedestrian entrances, although the left entrance is blocked. The rear of the archway is harled. At the top of the main arch, there is a corniced blocked wallhead, with a plain blocking course on the flanking walls. Above the right pedestrian entrance, there is an inscribed plaque.
