Description
2 Carmelite Street in Banff is a building designed by John Marr between 1764 and 1767. It is a three-storey, five-bay block that faces Low Street, with a single bay returning to Carmelite Street. The exterior is harled with painted ashlar margins. The Low Street frontage features two doorways, including an enlarged entrance for a café, and the first and second floors have regular fenestration arranged in groups of two and three bays. The entrance to No 2 Carmelite Street is recessed and has single windows on the first and second floors, with 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows. The building has corniced end stacks and a slate roof that is piended at the corner.
Inside, there are some simple plaster cornices and six-panelled raised and field doors that have survived.
