Description
1 Carmelite Street in Banff features a later 19th century street frontage that may include elements from the 18th century, with a rear wing dated 1759. The building is a 2-storey and attic L-plan range constructed from dark whinstone, accented with tooled sandstone ashlar dressings. The narrow 3-bay Carmelite Street frontage has original ground floor shops with paired windows and an entrance in the outer bay, which is closed by double leaf plank doors. On the first floor, there are 3 windows, along with 2 canted wallhead dormers.
The 2-bay rear wing includes large first floor windows and 2 piended wallhead dormers. The windows feature 4-pane glazing in timber sash and case style, and the building has corniced end stacks and slate roofs.
