Description
The White Ball Public House is an early 18th century building, with some later alterations. The front elevation is rendered, while the rear is partly slate hung, and the rear wing is constructed of stone rubble and brick. It features a slate roof and has stacks with brick shafts, including a lateral stack at the rear right that may be early. The building has cast-iron rainwater goods, including a well-shaped hopper.
The plan is L-shaped, with the main range having a carriageway leading to the rear. The rear left wing may have originally been used for stabling. The exterior is three storeys high with a symmetrical front consisting of one central bay and three total bays. This block has a platband and a well-crafted 18th century pilastered doorcase with a cornice, leading to a 20th century front door. On either side of the front door are 20th century high transomed casements, set in earlier moulded surrounds. The first floor features 12-pane boxed sashes, while the second floor has 3 over 6-pane boxed sashes. The one-bay block to the left has a carriageway below windows that match the rest of the facade. The interior has not been inspected.
