Description

This is a small house dating from the early 19th century, situated on Church Street in Tiverton. The exterior is rendered with roughcast, set upon solid walls, and features a tarred, slated roof running at a right angle to the street. The roof has a hipped front and back, and a red brick chimney with two decorative chimney pots is located centrally along the ridge. The house is single-fronted, with a gable end facing the street.

On the front, the ground floor has an old plank door on the right side and a plain sash window on the left. The upper floor features two windows with eight-paned box-framed sashes, each slightly recessed. The rear wall, which is visible from a nearby car park, has two upper-storey windows with two-light wooden casements flush with the wall. Each light has two panes of glass.

The interior of the house has not been inspected.

Alongside numbers 23–27, this house likely dates from a period prior to the major rebuilding of the street by Heathcoats in the 1850s and 1860s. It has undergone few external alterations and forms part of a historically significant group of buildings.
