Description

5 Carmelite Street in Banff is a house from the mid to late 18th century that incorporates earlier elements, including a datestone from 1697. The building is three stories tall with two bays and features a modern single-storey extension at the rear gable. It is constructed of rubble with painted tooled ashlar margins. The entrance is off-centre and has a reused door lintel that is adorned with a carved mask. The windows include 9- and 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case style, with modern two-light glazing in the gable window on the first floor and in the rear wing. The house has a coped end stack and a slate roof.
