Description
The Old Post Office in Girnoc is a former Post Office building from the later 19th century. It is a single storey and attic structure with three bays. The building features a pair of dormers that break the eaves, each with distinctive splayed gables. The roof is adorned with bands of decorative slating, including fish-scale and diamond patterns. The exterior is constructed from granite rubble and has deep eaves. There is a small 20th century extension at the rear.
The ground floor has 6-pane casement windows with chunky timber mullions and transoms, while the attic features casements with timber mullions. The entrance door is a timber 4-panel, 2-leaf design, topped with a narrow 2-pane fanlight and set within simple pilastered jambs. The building also has ridge stacks.
The interior was not accessible for viewing during the visit in February 2006.
