Dropping Lane (east side) Milestone at NGR ST 6980 3393 II

Milestone. C18. Doulting stone with cast iron plaque; stone about 350 mm wide by 200 mm thick, rounded top to about 600mm overall height; plaque about 350 mm wide and 450 mm high, bolted on, reads: "BRUTON 1 MILE" in incised Roman lettering. This road taken over by the Bruton Trust on its formation in 1756.
