Description

This milestone, located on the A359, is likely from the 19th century. It is made of Doulting stone and features a cast iron plaque. The stone pillar measures 400 mm wide, 300 mm thick, and stands 1.35 metres high. It has chamfered leading edges and a rounded top. The cast iron plaque, which is bolted to the pillar, measures 260 mm wide and 310 mm high, and it reads: "TO BRUTON 2." The lower left corner of the plaque is damaged. This milestone is part of a set along this road and was taken over by the Bruton Trust in 1831.
