Description
Saite Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse located on the west side of Seat Lane in Batcombe. It is constructed of rubble with a double-Roman tiled roof featuring coped verges and one stone and one brick stack. The building has two storeys and consists of seven bays, each with 2-light moulded stone-mullioned windows. Each window has a casement with glazing bars and stopped labels. There are two door openings framed with edge-roll moulded stone; one has a plank door and the other a half-glazed door. Above the left door opening is a carved stone heraldic achievement on a square panel with a cornice, displaying three scallop shells in pale, which are the arms of the Bisse family. The farmhouse is accompanied by a walled forecourt that features an ornamental iron gate. An illustration by John Buckler from 1829 depicts the property.
