Description

East Block of Redlynch Park House, which includes gates and wing walls on the southwest and northwest corners, is a stable, coach house, and servants' wing that has been converted into a house. It was built in the first half of the 18th century and remodeled as a house in 1913, likely by Sir Edwin Lutyens. The structure was constructed by Nathaniel Ireson of Wincanton for Lord Ilchester. It features local stone that is cut and squared, with Doulting stone dressings, and has hipped Welsh slate roofs behind parapets, along with stone chimney stacks that have moulded capitals.

The building has a 'U'-shaped plan and consists of two storeys with attics. The south facade has 11 bays, with the outer pairs projecting slightly. It includes a plinth, a lower cill course, an eaves cornice, and panelled solid parapets. The windows are 2-light cruciform timber windows with leaded lights in plain surrounds, and the lower windows feature triple keystones. There is a doorway in bay 6 with a Gibbsian surround and keystone, which has late 20th-century doors in an early 20th-century frame with a leaded fanlight. Hipped dormer windows are located behind the parapet in bays 2 to 10, and there are lead rainwater stackheads and pipes.

The east facade has 3 bays, with pairs of 2-light windows above and angled one-storey bay windows below, flanking a central triple window that has an open pedimented hood on console brackets. The west elevation consists of 6 bays, with dormer windows in bays 4 to 6, and bay 5 features a projecting pedimented vaulted porch from the 20th century, which has attached Doric columns surrounding a Gibbsian round arch. The interiors are not accessible. The wing walls, likely from the 20th century, are made of ashlar with rusticated surrounds and wood gates. This wing was converted into a house in 1913 after the main house, located south of the existing wings, was destroyed by fire, which was caused by arson from the Suffragettes. No trace of the original main house remains.
