6/178 Range of farm buildings about 20 metres south-east of Pipplepen Farmhouse
GV II
Barn and cowsheds. C18 and C19. Ham stone rubble, ashlar dressings; some brick infill; mostly Welsh slate roofs with stepped coped gables. 'L'-plan, 2-storey east range and single-storey south range. Main barn in east range, 4 bays. West elevation has segmental archway with pair of divided doors bay 2, (with opposing doors in east wall), slit vents and part-blocked window upper bay 1. Attached to north gable a lower range with double Roman clay tiled roof, plain gable; the south half was a former throughway, now blocked up: voussoired flat arched doorways and windows below: one shuttered window and a loft door above. Projecting westwards from bays 3/4 of main barn the range of cowstalls and stables, stone slate base courses to Welsh slate roof; the open byre section now bricked up: the building extends in lean-to form against the south gable of the main barn. Group has important value in the context of Pipplepen Farmhouse (qv).
