Description

Annandale is a house located at the bottom of a row in Langport, dating from the 18th century and extended in the 19th century. The building is rendered and colourwashed, featuring painted stone dressings and a Welsh slate roof with a hipped west gable and an abutment to the east. It has three storeys, although the top storey may be an addition, and consists of two bays. Architectural details include string and cill courses, 16-pane sash windows on the ground floor with plain surrounds, 20-pane sashes in architraved surrounds on the first floor, and 6-pane sashes in plain surrounds on the second floor. The entrance features a 6-panel door with a matching side panel and fanlight, positioned between the bays. This is sheltered by an open stone porch that has a semi-circular archway with moulded imposts, a moulded arch and keystone, and is topped with a cornice and a plain flat parapet. There is also a single-storey brick extension with a flat roof on the east side. The interior has not been seen.

Two metres south of the house, there are wrought iron square railings with collared points, set on a low stone wall, along with a latching gate. The railings have cast-iron urn finials on the standards and are significant for both the setting of the house and the overall streetscape.
