Description

Langport Post Office is a corner house that dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed from local lias stone with brickwork dressings, featuring a facade of Ham ashlar stone. The building has a plain clay tile roof that sits between stepped coped gables, behind a low parapet, and includes brick end chimney stacks.

The structure is two storeys high and has three bays. Notable architectural features include a plinth, a cornice mould, a plain parapet, and plain end pilasters. The windows are sash style in plain openings, with 20 panes on the ground floor and 16 panes on the upper floor. The central bay contains a six-panelled door that is topped by a Regency pattern semi-circular fanlight. This door is set within a finely modelled timber open porch, which has fluted Tuscan columns and a full entablature with metopes, topped with a lead flat roof. The interior has not been seen. There are also 20th-century railings and an access ramp leading to the doorway.
