Description

Church Cottage is a mid-19th century house located at the end of a row on The Hill in Langport. It is constructed from local lias stone rubble in an uncoursed style, with lias and Ham stone dressings. The roof is made of Welsh slate and features large overhangs at the plain gables, along with stone chimney stacks. The building has an 'L' plan and is two storeys high, with several bays; the third bay includes a gabled projection. The windows are semi-circular headed plain sash windows, arranged in pairs and threes, with some featuring relieving arches above. There is an angled Ham stone porch at the corner, which has a semi-circular archway, impost blocks, and a keystone, topped with a slate lean-to roof. On the east gable, there is a segmental arched carriageway with a boarded door, set beneath a slated roof. The interior has not been seen. Church Cottage is situated immediately west of the Church of All Saints, contributing to its important group value.
