Description

The Bagehot Monument is a tombstone and enclosure located in the churchyard of the Church of All Saints in Langport, dating from 1877. It is made of Ham stone and features two matching headstones with scroll heads and leaf side decorations. In front of these headstones is a square enclosure designed in a Gothic style, which includes open balustrading on a plinth with coping, adorned with quatrefoil and leaf decoration. The monument commemorates Walter Bagehot, who died in 1877, and other members of his family. It was recently cleared and restored in September 1984.
