Description

Stone gatepiers and a stone stile are located on the south side of the road about 50 metres east of Haselbury Old Bridge. This structure is probably from the early 19th century and is made of ham stone ashlar. The gate piers are approximately 400mm square at the base, tapering to 300mm square, and feature a hollow chamfer at the top, leading to rounded square finials, which are not ball-shaped. There is a matching pier to the east, which is attached to a rubble wall. Between this pier and the gatepost, there is a stone slab about 1 metre square and 120mm thick, with a single stone step on the north side and two steps on the south side. A 20th-century metal farm gate is present. This is an unusual survival of such a feature in this area.
