Description
The gate piers, gate, and walls located to the south-west of Hallgarth Farmhouse are likely from the late 18th century. They serve as entrances for both pedestrians and vehicles to the garden, featuring a blocked stile next to the vehicle entrance and a pedestrian gate. The walls are constructed of sandstone rubble and topped with large, flat stone slabs, while the piers are made of ashlar stone and support a wrought iron gate. The wall, approximately one metre high, curves around the west and south sides of the garden in front of Hallgarth Farmhouse, ramping up to connect with an outbuilding to the south of the house. On the west side, the wall is interrupted by plain piers with arched heads that flank a spike-headed gate. On the south side, square-section piers with pointed tops flank a 20th-century gate, which is not of particular interest, and there is a blocked narrow opening on the right side of this entrance that suggests a former stile.
