Description
There are two grave covers located against the south wall of the nave of the Church of St. John the Evangelist in Kirk Merrington. These grave covers date from the late 12th century or early 13th century and are made of sandstone ashlar. Each coped slab measures approximately 1.5 metres long and features carvings that resemble overlapping planks. The ridges of the slabs end in slots for uprights at both ends and have circular cross-head termini at each end. One of the grave covers also includes drilled holes in the end sockets.
