Description

Discove Cottage is a detached cottage located about 200 metres north of Discove House, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of local stone rubble, with some parts rendered and colourwashed. The roof is made of double Roman clay tiles and features coped gables, along with end chimney stacks, one made of brick and the other of stone. The cottage has two storeys and four bays. The windows in the first bay and the upper part of the second bay are steel casements, while there is an old boarded door with a timber porch in the lower part of the second bay. The third bay has a small pane casement window, and the remaining small pane windows may be made of cast iron, featuring small centre opening lights. All windows are set under exposed timber lintels. There are lean-to buildings attached to both gables and to the rear of the cottage. The interior has not been seen.
