Description

This is a row of five cottages located on Western Way, likely built in the 18th century. They are constructed from local stone rubble, with number 3 being partially rendered and colorwashed. The cottages feature thatched roofs, with a thin east gable and a stepped coped west gable, along with brick chimney stacks. They are single-storey with attics.

Number 1 has two bays and includes 3-light small-pane casement windows on both levels. The lower windows share a timber lintel, while the first-floor windows are set into the roof. There is a part-glazed door in a recess between the bays. Number 2 is a single bay with small-pane casement windows, and the attic has two windows set into the roof. The part-glazed door is located to the left of the lower window.

Number 3 has two bays and features small-pane casement windows with three lights in the ground floor bay 2 and two- and three-light windows in the attic. There is a part-glazed door in bay 1, with timber lintels above both lower openings. Number 4 is a single bay with a 3-light small-pane casement window below and a 2-light window above, which is of an earlier pattern and set lower than the others. The part-glazed door is to the left. Number 5 is also a single bay, with 2-light small-pane casement windows on both levels and a part-glazed door to the left. There is a large flat-roofed extension at the rear. The interiors have not been inspected.
