Description
A row of three cottages, likely dating from the early 19th century, is situated on the south side of High Street in Milborne Port. The cottages are constructed from local stone rubble laid in courses, with a plain clay tile roof and stone slate base courses to numbers 204 and 205. The roof features simple verges, but the west gable of number 204 has an ornate bargeboard. Brick chimney stacks are present.
Number 204, the right-hand cottage, is two bays wide and has a composite 4+16+4 pane sash window to the lower bay and a 3-light horizontal bar sash window to the second bay, both set beneath timber lintols. Above these are two 2-light small pane casements. The original entrance, formerly located between the windows, has been blocked and relocated to the west gable. Number 205 is three bays wide, with 2-light small-pane casement windows beneath timber lintols. The upper windows in this cottage are set within gabled dormers with ornamental bargeboards, and the lintols have elliptical arched recesses. A central 20th-century door is set into a deep recessed surround. Number 206, the final cottage in the row, has two bays, with earlier pattern 3-light casement windows. The lower windows have heavy frames and horizontal bars to the lights, while the upper windows feature leaded lights with iron-framed central panes that open. A boarded door is placed within a lined recess between the bays, with a continuous timber bearer extending across the lower openings of all three cottages. The interiors of the cottages have not been inspected.
