Description

The Milborne Port War Memorial is a stone cross built in 1921. It features a freestanding design with a tapering hexagonal shaft and an intricately carved lantern or tabernacle head that includes a calvary. The cross is set atop a square moulded plinth and an octagonal step, which rests on an octagonal capped platform. The front face of the plinth displays a carved wreath in relief, with an inscription that reads: "TO THE MEN OF MILBORNE PORT WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918." The step below has the inscription "1939 - 1945," while the other faces of the plinth and step list the names of the fallen.
