Description

The Ball Court, also known as Fives Tower, is a structure dated 1847 located on the south side of High Street in Milborne Port. It is built from local stone, featuring one bay of rubble coursed stone and one bay of ashlar. The building has a Lias stone plinth and stepped pitched copings, with walls that rise to 6 meters high. Stepped buttresses, projecting about 4 meters at the base, divide the wall into bays of approximately 6 meters. On the west gable of the house at the northern end, there is a stone plaque that reads: "The Ball Court Built by Sir W.C Medlycotte in the year 1847. It is earnestly hoped that this court which is meant for the health and amusement of the town will be protected from injury."
