Description

No. 30 is a house located on East Street in Ilminster, dating from the early 19th century, with a mid-20th century extension to the left. The house features incised stucco, a slate roof, and a brick stack on the left side, while the extension has a pantile roof. It has a two-unit central staircase plan with a wing that angles back to the left. The building is two storeys tall. The first floor has 8/8-pane sash windows in forward frames, and the ground floor has 2/2-pane sash windows, also in forward frames, all with horns. The central entrance is a six-panel door, with the top four panels raised-and-fielded and the lower two beaded. The interior has not been inspected. The house is complemented by delicate square railings with tapered heads and small urn-like finials that enclose a shallow forecourt and flank a trellised porch, which has a hipped swept canopy over the door.
