Description
33A East Street is a mid-19th century shop located in Ilminster. The building is constructed from limestone rubble, with brick on the left side of the ground floor, and features coursed rubble that remains from a previous parapet, approximately 1 meter high on the left. The roof is slate, hipped at the front with a gutter, and there is a ball finial on the left gable end at the rear. The plan of the building is trapezium-shaped, tapering towards the rear. It has two storeys and a two-window range. There are steps on the left leading up to a 20th-century glazed door with an overlight, situated below a 19th-century two-over-two pane sash window. To the right on the first floor is a similar but wider window, both of which are set under concrete lintels. Off-centre to the right on the ground floor is a mid-19th century shop window that features recessed panels on the pilasters, a dentilled cornice, and 20th-century glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
