Thornette

Thornette is a detached cottage dating from the 17th century. It is built of locally sourced lias stone that is roughly cut and squared, with Ham stone dressings. The cottage features a thatched roof with plain gables and a brick chimney stack at the north end. The entrance is located at the gable, and the building is single-storey with an attic, comprising two bays. It has hollow chamfer mullioned three-light windows set in wave mould surrounds with square labels. The dormers contain plain casements, and there is a door in the north gable that has a very heavy frame, topped by a thatched conoid hood. Attached to the south gable is a thatched outbuilding, which is clad in weatherboard. The interior has not been seen.
