Description
Plot Corner is a detached cottage dating from the early 17th century. It is constructed from local lias stone that is cut and squared, with Ham stone dressings and a thatched roof featuring coped gables and brick end chimney stacks. The cottage is two storeys high and has three bays. The windows are hollow chamfer mullioned, set in recesses, with square labels above all but the upper bay 2. The outer bays have four-light windows above, while bay 2 has a two-light window below and a three-light window above. All windows have rectangular leaded panes and some feature iron framed opening lights. To the left of bay 2, there is an early 20th-century part-glazed door framed in heavy cambered timber. At the rear, there is an outshut. The interior has not been seen, but it is reported to have beams with broad chamfers and step and run-out stops, a massive beam associated with a blocked fireplace in the north gable wall, stud and plank partitions, and an early collar truss roof that shows signs of 17th-century adaptation.
