Description
Tudor St Anthony is a detached cottage with origins dating back to the 16th century. It is constructed from local lias stone that is roughly cut and squared, with Ham stone dressings. The cottage features a half hipped thatched roof and has brick chimney stacks at both ends and in the middle. It is a single-storey building with an attic and has four bays with irregular window arrangements.
The windows include two-light chamfered mullioned designs set in chamfered recesses, which are topped with square labels. These windows have rectangular leaded panes and some iron opening casements. There is also a single-light window to the right of the fourth bay that matches the others. Above the second, third, and fourth bays, there are leaded steel casement windows set in swept thatch dormers. The third bay features a plain boarded door in a heavy frame, complete with a deep stone lintel and a square label.
There are later windows added to the west gable and a lean-to garage against the east gable. Although the interior was not seen, it is reported to contain at least one jointed cruck truss, according to unpublished reports from the 1970s.
