Description

Thorney West Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the 17th century. It is constructed of local lias stone, squared and cut, with dressings of Ham stone. The roof is thatched, with coped gables and stone chimney stacks. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a random arrangement of six bays. It features ovolo-mould mullioned windows with a continuous, stepped string course linking the labels of all ground floor windows. The ground floor windows have varying numbers of lights, consisting of 2, 3, 3, 3, 2, and 1 lights. Above, there are three-light windows between bays 1 and 2 and bays 4 and 5, with double two-light windows between bays 3 and 4. A cambered arched doorway is located between bays 3 and 4. Lean-to outbuildings adjoin the north-west gable. The south-east gable has a moulded offset at first floor level, with two two-light mullioned windows below and a single one above, all with individual labels. An outshut is situated at the rear of the property. The interior has not been inspected.
