Description

Thorney Cottage is a detached cottage dating from the 17th century. It is constructed from local lias stone that is roughly cut and squared, with Ham stone dressings. The cottage features a thatched roof with a stepped coped gable at the north end and a half-hip at the south. There is a brick chimney stack at the north end with a traditional baffle top. The building is single-storey with an attic and consists of two bays. It has hollow chamfered three-light mullioned windows set in wave mould recesses, with square labels above. The three-light casements are located in swept thatch dormers, with the dormer in the second bay being older. Between the bays, there is a 20th-century boarded door and frame in a plain opening, accompanied by an open timber and thatch porch. The south gable is rendered and features 20th-century casement windows. The interior has not been seen.
