Description

London House is a house and shop dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed from local lias stone that has been cut and squared, topped with a Welsh slate roof that features double hips at the corner and stone chimney stacks with brick tops. The building has an 'L' plan with a curved corner and stands two storeys high. It has three bays facing New Street, one bay on the curve, and one bay on Broad Street.

The windows are sash style in plain openings, with dovetailed stone lintels above. The first floor has 16-pane windows in bays 1, 2, 3, and 5, while the curved bay 4 features a 20-pane window. Below, there are large plain shop windows in bays 1 and 5. To the left of bay 1, there is a 9-flush panel door beneath a rectangular margined fanlight. Bays 2 and 3, as well as bay 4, have matching Regency style shopfronts. The shopfront for bay 2 includes a recessed glazed door to the right, while bay 4 has a central recessed door set under an open segmental pediment that crowns the fascia. Each front is adorned with ornamental arrowhead finials flanking timber pilasters. London House occupies a prominent corner position and is significant in the streetscape.
