Description

The Green Dragon is a cottage in a row, likely dating back to the 18th century or earlier. It was originally two shops. The building is constructed from local lias stone, cut and squared, with a clay pantile roof between coped gables. Brick chimney stacks are also present.

The cottage is two storeys high and has three bays. It features small-paned casement windows of an earlier design, some with crown glass. A 2-light window is above the lower bay, while bay 2 has a similar window. A projecting square bay is present in the lower bay, with 4 panes above and 2-4-2 panes below, set on a brick base and with a hipped roof made of Welsh slate. This bay covers the lower part of a glazed door to the right. A similar arrangement is found in bay 3, but with a larger window comprising 3+9+9+9+3 panes, and a wider 6-panel door to the left. The interior of the building was not inspected.

The Green Dragon makes a picturesque contribution to the street scene and is part of a good group of small cottages in a street first recorded in 1349.
