Description

An early 18th-century farmhouse with a boundary wall, situated in Yeovil Marsh. The farmhouse is constructed of local stone, with Ham stone dressings, and has a mixed roof. The lower two courses are stone slates, followed by Welsh slates, and the upper portion is covered in old clay tiles, all set beneath coped gables and stone chimney stacks at each end. The South elevation has five bays, with a central entrance consisting of a half-glazed door – two solid panels and nine panes of glass with margins – set within a simple architrave, topped by a flat hood supported by console brackets. The windows are hollowed, chamfered, mullioned, with two lights in each, and all have near-square leaded lights. Some of the casements have their original external stay bars. A substantial chimney stack projection rises from the West gable, connected to a return wing. This wing features an 18th-century composite timber window on the ground floor and a three-light mullioned window above. An outshut is located at the rear, to the East of the chimney projection. The interior has not been inspected. The boundary wall, constructed of local stone, is approximately 1.5 metres high along the Western side, with coping, and slopes downward to a lower stone wall in front of the house. To the East, the wall transitions to brick, also approximately 1.5 metres high, with a projecting course and bullnose cappings. The outbuildings are not included in the listing.
