Description

Marsh Farm House is a farmhouse dating from the middle of the 18th century. It is built from local stone, squared and arranged in random courses, with Ham stone dressings. The roof is plain clay tiled, featuring coped gables and brick end chimney stacks with stone caps. The house is two stories high and consists of five bays. The central entrance has a six-reeded panel door, which may have glazed panels, set within an architrave and topped by a stone flat door hood supported by brackets.

Throughout the building, there are two-light mullioned windows with architraves, featuring rectangular leaded panes. Three of the casement windows retain their wrought iron projecting casement stays. The corners of the house have rusticated quoins, and there is a string course running between the ground and first floors.

To the west, there is a tall single-storey extension made of stone with a clay tile roof and a coped end gable. In front of this extension is a lean-to building constructed of stone, topped with a double Roman clay tiled roof. This lean-to features one casement window and a glazed door on the return, both likely from the early 20th century. To the east, there is a two-storey extension with local stone rubble at the ground floor and brick above, also with a plain clay tiled roof. Additionally, there is a later stone outshut and a single-storey brick extension to the north. The interior of the house has not been inspected. The various farm buildings from the 20th century are not included in the listing.
