Description
Old Sock Cottage is an 18th-century cottage constructed from local stone that is cut, squared, and coursed. It features double Roman clay tiles on the roof, which has coped gables, and rendered end stacks. The cottage is two stories tall and has four bays, with a rear entrance. It includes a variety of casement windows, mostly leaded, with some early examples that have wrought iron opening lights, catches, and internal vertical bars. The ground floor has exposed timber lintels, and there are additional bonding timbers on part of the first floor. Both upper end windows are set in gabled dormers that have bargeboards and tile hanging.
