Description

This is a cottage, likely dating from the 17th century. It is built of random local stone, with some brick patching, and has a thatched roof that is hipped at the east end, with a brick stack toward the west end. The cottage is one and a half storeys high, and the windows appear random from the exterior. It is thought to have originally been a typical house with a passage leading away from the stack, with a later addition to the east end. The front door is now nearly central and is a boarded, end-braced door with a glazed panel, framed by a timber-boarded porch with a thatched roof. To the right of the porch are two small casement windows, one of two lights and one of three lights, with intermediate horizontal glazing bars. Above the former is a three-light casement with cross glazing bars set into the thatch. To the left of the porch, there is a three-light and a single light casement, and immediately above them, at floor level, a double and a single light casement respectively. The interior appears to retain some early features, though access was not granted for inspection in January 1983.

To the west of the cottage stands a building now used as a garage, probably dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of random coursed squared local stone with a Welsh slated roof between copings and a chimney at the front. Modern garage doors are set into the front gable, and a stable door is present on the side. This side door may have previously served as an entrance to a small forge.
