Description
Brimsmore House, formerly known as Brimsmore Tree Farmhouse, is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century, possibly rebuilt during that period. It is constructed from squared and random coursed ham stone with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh slated roof with coped gables and end chimney stacks that have been rebuilt in reconstructed stone. The building has a two-storey, three-bay facade, highlighted by a central projecting Roman Doric porch with a full entablature and flat roof, which shelters an inappropriate late 20th-century front door. Flanking the porch are three-light hollow chamfered mullioned windows with label mouldings and rectangular leaded panes on both levels, along with a matching two-light window above the entrance door. The side elevation reveals a double roof, while the other elevations are unremarkable. The interior has not been seen. Although the stable and coach house in the grounds have been significantly altered and are not included in the listing, the local stone boundary walls are included. These walls average 1.5 metres in height and feature a lower wall along Tintinhull Road, which has wrought iron railings with arrowheads, scroll braces, and urn finials at intervals, standing about 1 metre high on a 500mm high stone base.
