Description
Holcote House is a villa dating to around 1840. It is constructed of rendered and colourwashed walls with unpainted Ham stone dressings, featuring hipped roofs covered in cement slates and rendered chimney stacks. The main two-storey section has three bays, with a ground floor extension spanning the width of the main house, and a further single-storey extension to the west. The ground floor extension itself is only two bays wide, and is divided by stone-panelled flat Doric pilasters, with two-margined sash windows and a bell-cast slate roof. Above this extension are three semi-circular headed windows with architraves, each containing six panes with radial glazing. To the west, a three-bay extension features a four-panel door, with the two upper panels glazed, set within an architrave with impost and keystones. The door is accessed by two steps. Flanking the door are two two-margined casement windows, divided by matching stone pilasters, with a stone cornice and plain parapet above. The interior of the house has not been inspected. Included in the listing are the two stone gate piers, which have been relocated and the opening between them widened. They are topped with moulded pyramidal caps.
