Description
Kingston House, dating from around 1840, is a town house that now serves as a private school. It is constructed of brick with a Ham stone plinth, band, and rusticated quoins, topped with a Welsh slated roof behind parapets featuring stone urns at each corner. The southeast entrance facade is two stories high with three bays. The central entrance consists of a 6-pane (4-glazed) door set in a simple opening, flanked by 12-pane sash windows. These windows are sheltered by a wood and corrugated iron verandah that spans the entire front, which has an arcaded bell hipped roof. On the first floor, there are three 12-pane windows in simple openings, equipped with hinged venetian shutters. The southwest return is rendered and matches the first floor with its two bays, but the ground floor features a single-storey stone and rendered extension with an angled bay window. The interior has not been seen. The extension to the southwest is not included in the listing. The northeastern boundary is marked by a high capped stone wall with two 2-centre arched openings (one of which is blocked) and panelled and capped gate piers, although the left-hand cap of the trio is now missing.
