Description
Glenthorne House, built around 1820 and now used as offices, is a villa constructed of stucco with a hipped Welsh slate roof concealed behind a parapet. The front elevation is two stories high and set back from the road, featuring three bays. At ground floor level, there are long 12-pane sash windows in plain openings. The first-floor windows have semi-circular heads with radial glazing bars in the upper sections, although the remaining glazing bars have been removed. The building displays a Regency style panelled soffite to the cornice and Gothick arched panels in the parapet above. There is a doorway in the plain south return wall, which has a modern timber doorhead.
At the rear, there is an 18th-century extension, or possibly a separate house, which is also rendered but has a hipped plain tiled roof. This extension is two stories tall and features a 6-panel door, with the top two panels glazed, set in a simple opening with a stone hood and console brackets above. To the side, there is a 12-pane sash window, although the lower casement has lost its glazing bars. On the first floor, there is a central longer 12-pane window. The interiors have not been inspected. Additionally, there is a low stone wall and tall stone gate piers of interest, which feature Gothick arched panels and moulded pyramidal tops.
