Description
Woodville House is an early 19th-century house located at the end of a row on Woodcock Street in Castle Cary. It is constructed from roughly cut and squared Cary stone and features a plain clay tiled roof with coped gables and brick end chimney stacks. The house has a double roof plan and stands two storeys tall with three bays. The base is made of lias stone and is 1.5 metres high. The windows are 12-pane sash windows set in plain openings with voussoired flat arches. The central bay has a six-flush-panel door with a glazed toplight, which is situated under a moulded flat stone hood supported by console brackets. The interior has not been seen. In front of the house, there is a one-metre high wrought-iron railing with necked spearpoints, which is set on a low stone wall and has returns at both ends. There is a matching gate opposite the door, contributing to the overall setting of the house and enhancing the streetscape.
