Description

Welham House is a late 18th-century house located on Cattle Hill in Shepton Montague. The house is constructed of Cary stone, cut and squared, with a clay pantile roof between coped gables and brick end chimney stacks. It follows an "L" plan, with two storeys and a three-bay front. The upper floor features 16-pane sash windows, while the ground floor has early 20th-century composite sash windows, set within bays with Welsh slate hipped roofs. A part-glazed door is sheltered by a glass verandah. The North elevation has 12-pane sash windows. There are substantial outbuildings to the rear. A single-storey extension with a Welsh slate roof, a brick chimney stack, and a bay window matching that of the first bay has been added to the South gable. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
