Description
South West Lodge to Hadspen House is an early 19th-century lodge built from Cary stone squared rubble, featuring ashlar surrounds. It has a hipped Welsh slate roof and a rendered central brick chimney stack. The lodge is single storey with a three-bay south elevation, a lean-to on the west gable, and double chamfered ends on the east. It includes three-light plain mullioned surround windows with leaded lights, a single light window in the lean-to, and additional single light windows in the chamfers. The east wall has a plain boarded door, which is sheltered by a hipped Welsh slate roofed porch supported by rustic poles. This lodge is a notable element of a largely 18th-century estate. The interior has not been seen.
