Description

Shatwell House is a late 18th-century farmhouse, originally known as Shatwell Farm House. It is constructed of Cary stone with Doulting stone dressings, and has a hipped Welsh slate roof. A central chimney stack is built of brick and stone, with further brick stacks to the rear. The south elevation has two wide bays, featuring paired sash windows in plain ashlar surrounds. The central entrance has a 6-panel door with a plain surround, topped by a shallow pediment and a large sundial, which is a stone plaque with an iron gnomon. Two pitched hipped roof dormer windows are visible in the roof. A later two-storey extension has been added to the west. The east elevation mirrors the design of the south elevation.
