Description

This building is a canal warehouse that has been converted into a workshop, located approximately 40 meters southeast of Number 104 on Castlegate in Malton. It dates from the early 19th century and has been re-roofed and altered in the 20th century. The structure is made of pink and cream mottled brick laid in English garden-wall bond, resting on a chamfered sandstone plinth, and features a pantile roof.

The front facing Castlegate is three stories high and has four windows. There are replacement half-glazed and panelled doors at the right end, and a plank divided lifting door towards the left end of the first floor. Most other openings are either shuttered or consist of glazed windows with stone sills. All openings are segment-arched, except for those on the second floor, which have flat arches.

On the right side, there is a 16-pane sash window on the ground floor to the right, and to the left, a shuttered opening with a timber lintel. Additionally, there is a renewed fixed window in the original segment-arched opening in the gable end. This building is included for its group value.
