Description

Malton Bridge is a bridge built around 1760, which has been widened and had part of its parapet rebuilt in the 20th century. It is constructed of sandstone ashlar and has been expanded by adding a concrete walkway with iron railings. The bridge features three spans that cross the River Derwent, with a mid-stream island. It has semicircular arches made of voussoirs, with roll mouldings on the downstream side, and cutwaters positioned between the arches on the Norton side. There is a raised chamfered band on the upstream side beneath a plain cambered parapet. The original downstream parapet remains alongside the later walkway. The north end of the bridge is located in Malton.
