Description
King’s Mill is a cornmill dating from the late 18th century, largely rebuilt in 1802 following a fire, and extended between 1846 and 1848. Extensions were designed by J P Pritchett of York. The mill is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and has pantile roofs with stone copings and kneelers. A kiln house with a pyramidal roof and truncated chimney is also present.
The main range is four storeys high and has six window bays. To the left is a three-storey, three-window extension with a pedimented front. Attached to the right end is a two-storey, two-bay kiln house. The windows in the main range are segment-arched and have stone sills. The extension features fixed windows with glazing bars and a blind oculus in the pedimented gable end. The windows in the kiln house have been altered. At the time of listing in 1990, the buildings were in a semi-derelict condition.
