Description
Numbers 4 and 6 are a pair of houses located on Commercial Street in Norton-on-Derwent. They were built in the early 19th century and have undergone some later alterations. The houses are constructed of red brick in English garden wall bond and feature a pantile roof with rebuilt brick stacks. They stand two storeys tall with a basement and have a two-window front.
A flight of steps leads to paired board doors that access the cellar, which is situated beneath paired central six-panel doors that are topped with a continuous lintel. The windows on the ground floor are 12-pane sashes with painted wedge lintels, while the first floor has uneven nine-pane sashes. All windows have painted stone sills. The houses have end stacks and the flight of steps is adorned with a set of slender cast-iron stick railings.
